Research Keywords – They Are Crucial To Your Success
Keyword research should be the basis for your network marketing strategy. Many of the individual marketing strategies are dependent upon how successfully research keywords.
You can do PPC, video or article marketing without researching keywords, but you probably won’t be very successful. Those marketing strategies are not about putting out tons of content, they are about putting out content that targets words that will drive traffic to your site.
Why It’s Important To Research Keywords
Finding good keywords for PPC marketing is about finding words and testing with them to find the ones that you get conversions. The less competition there is for the keywords means the cost to you will probably be lower.
Article and video marketing are different. The main focus of this type of marketing at the beginning is about getting content out on the internet that will drive traffic to you. As soon as you get comfortable with the basic process of creating the article, video, etc. you have to research keywords to get your marketing more focused. This is what makes both of these types of marketing blow up (in a good way).
Your goal for these types of marketing should be to find words that people ARE searching for but that don’t have a lot of competition. If you research keywords and find those with lower competition it means it will be easier/faster for you to “own” the word on Google searches.
If you get enough articles/videos on the internet for certain keywords, when someone does a Google search for those keywords your information will be at the top of the list.
This means you get traffic that is:
- Free
- Very, very, very targeted
- Ongoing
When you “own” a keyword, then you can start doing the same things for new keywords. One of the keys to success in the network marketing world is to own as many keywords as possible.
Generally you will have better results with a long-tailed keyword. A term like “MLM” is likely to have 7 gazillion searches but also probably has 48 trillion websites competing for that keyword. A phrase like “mlm network marketing opportunity” is likely to have much, much less competition.
If you don’t research keywords before you start writing articles and doing videos, chances are that you are using words that you will never rank for… which means you are wasting your time on activities that will never bring you traffic.
Find Keywords
When you start to research keywords, identify some basic words or phrases to start with. You need to research to find out how many searches there are for that keyword over a period of time. If you use a keyword that no one searches for, you may “own” it but it won’t matter because no one will be looking for it.
The other piece of data you need to consider is the amount of competition. If you try to compete for a word that has a lot of competition, it will take a very, very long time to get to the top of the rankings. If you are doing PPC, these words will be very, very expensive.
Wordtracker is the best place to research keywords.
You can also research keywords for free here. This is also a Wordtracker tool, but it does NOT give you the level of competition for the word.
Find Tag Keywords
For many types of marketing you need to add keyword “tags” to help tell them what your content is about.

- Put in the topic of your content
- Search
- Use the top 10 results as your keyword tags
