Blogging – How To Set Up A Blog

A blog is basically a kind of website.   The big difference between a blog and a traditional website is that a blog is typically much more user friendly for the owner which makes it easy to add content.  In the past people avoided blogging because they didn’t know how to set up a blog, but the difficulty involved has changed.

Blog marketing is a strategy that can be as easy or as complicated as you want to make it.  It can be a basic blog or it can grow to be the “nerve center” of your business.  As it grows it can eventually provide free, targeted traffic.

Pros
Blog marketing is a powerful strategy and every network marketer should eventually be blogging.  However, you shouldn’t start until you’re “ready”… as we discussed previously you should only be focusing on one type of marketing at a time.

Cons
One of the biggest stumbling blocks to blog marketing in the past have been the technical difficulties… people didn’t understand how to set up a blog.  However, many of these have been worked through and it is now much easier to get started blogging.  The videos in the Training section below will walk you through the entire process of how to set up a blog.

Strategy
After you learn how to set up a blog, it does several things for your business.  In addition to getting the normal traffic, it sets you apart because of the presence blog marketing gives you.

• Branding – personal or business related, it helps create an image, should honestly reflect you, your skills and your talents.
• Makes you look like an authority because you’re on the web.
• Gives you credibility because it “documents you” for all to see.

This is the basic blueprint of blog marketing.

• You write a blog post.
• The post is “pinged” and shared on social media sites and bookmarked.
• People see the post through various channels and traffic arrives at your blog.

Things You Need To Know

If you are planning to start blog marketing, it really, really, really should be self-hosted.  This is your business.  Do you really want your blog to be at the mercy of another company?  If the company you use to host your blog makes drastic changes, goes out of business, etc your blog goes with them.  It’s not that much harder, but it is critical if you’re going to incorporate this strategy.  The training videos show you how.

When you learn how to set up a blog it will be easier if it’s a free site vs self hosted, but if you’re serious about your business, you should watch the videos and make it self-hosted.
